We don't get to be here long

Doing life a little different is what we began doing four years ago.

Five years ago while Scott and I laid by the ocean in Maui we began discussing how we weren't loving the school our kids were attending. We began to weigh all the other options and homeschooling was thrown around. After praying about all options, homeschooling was the answer. As if homeschooling wasn't enough of a change, we sold our house and built a new home on ten acres. Fast forward four and half years later we are still homeschooling and enjoying the freedom it gives our family. We are realizing how fast time is flying and in eight short years we will become empty nesters. This thought makes me so sad and I want time to slow down. I want to give my kids the best of me while they are living at home. One of Scott's dream is to take a road trip around the United States. We began making plans to make this dream happen. New Years day we sat at the kitchen table mapping out a route and booking RV sites for an RV we didn't have! By the end of the day we had booked a thirty day, five thousand mile trip. We are now proud owners of a fifth wheel.  Scott and I have spent the last two months researching and gathering all the necessary equipment to make a thirty day road trip comfortable and successful for our family. I'm aware that this trip will stretch all of us, but I'm hoping that even the bad moments will turn into great memories for our family.

Knowing that we don't get to be here long and that family time is so important, I'm looking forward to giving my family the best of me for these thirty days. My prayer is that we grow closer as a family and we laugh a lot. We will be leaving behind reality and all responsibilities and I couldn't be more excited.

Life Schooling

What is a successful mother to God?

  • clean house?
  • laundry done?
  • dinner on the table?
I hope not.

A successful mother is one who is "Life Schooling".
"And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and you are getting up again. Tie them to your hands as a reminder, and wear them on your forehead. Write them on the doorsteps of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6: 5-9

Beth Moore talks about how it is critically important that: the Loving drives the Living. You can not fake your love and faith for Christ. We have to show our love for Christ to our children. When we love Him with all our heart and soul, our love will be shown naturally. We are to impress the word upon on our children.

1John 4:19 "We love because He first loved us"

He is trustworthy. He will never do us wrong. He has loved me with his son's life. We are loved so much that we are free to love Him too. Ps. 63:3 "Your unfailing love is better to me than life itself; how I praise you"

When I stand before God one day, I pray that he hugs me and tells me I am a successful mom. I pray that my kids love the LORD with all their heart, all their soul, and with all their strength.
